What Exactly Is Meant By The Phrase “Extended Care Addiction Treatment”?

On July 6, 2022 by admin

Residential treatment centers often provide treatment programs that last for 30, 60, or 90 days as the initial phase of the recovery process from addiction. The clients go through an initial medical assessment in addition to continuing to get medical care. Addicts in recovery are required to take an active role in their treatment by attending individual and group therapy sessions, 12-step meetings, and various other activities, all while being closely watched around the clock.

Following the completion of the core residential treatment program, clients have the opportunity to participate in extended programs/extended care treatment to get ongoing support for the process of recovering from drug or alcohol addiction. Extended care therapy can last anywhere from one month to two years and consists of a combination of different types of therapeutic and organized sober living programs. As the recovered addict transitions back toward the “real world,” this phase grants them increased freedom while lessening the amount of rigidity they must follow. During the transition from dependency to independent life, clients and their families are provided with the resources and assistance they need.

Treatment That Lasts For A Longer Period Has Been Shown To Significantly Boost Sobriety.

It has been established that receiving treatment for a longer period results in better recovery outcomes, significantly enhancing the probability that a recovering addict would remain sober after returning to independent life. Staying in extended care programs for longer periods may boost the risks even further. Research conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) indicated that recovering addicts benefited greatly from participation in extended care rehabilitation programs that lasted for at least six to twelve months.

Through Extended Care Therapy, Soledad House Can Achieve Great Outcomes.

Soledad House implements a multi-phased recovery approach to get the best possible results. The first three months of a client’s stay are referred to as Phase I. The duration of Phase II can be anywhere from four to six months, and it consists of group therapy, urine analysis testing, daily 12-step meetings, and continued supervision and support from professionals. During this second part of the program, clients are urged to look for work and get started paying their way toward their living expenses.

The Significance Of Having A Supportive Family And Receiving An Education In The Healing Process

The road to recovery is one that never ends, and the support of loved ones is an essential component of that journey. It might be challenging to establish a relationship of trust with a person who has been the cause of strife and suffering within the family. However, having support from one’s family throughout recovery is a significant factor in maintaining sobriety over the long term. To provide successful support to the recovering addict, members of the addict’s family need to learn how to engage in constructive communication with the recovering addict’s family members and how to diffuse circumstances that may serve as triggers.
